Two years of the Employee Engagement Summit held at the Brewery Venue  

THE IDEA

In 2023, Nick Rust and the Engage Business Media team launched their first event at The Brewery, drawn by its central London location, excellent transport links via Barbican and Moorgate, and flexible room formats. Their goal was to create highly engaging, multi-space conferences that combined thought leadership, practical insights, and networking opportunities for professionals across contact centres, marketing, sales, and employee engagement. The events featured keynotes, breakout workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions, designed to engage audiences and set a high standard for content delivery and production quality. Following its successful debut, the Employee Engagement Summit returned in 2024, attracting an even larger audience and expanding its influence within the sector. 

As the in-house production partner for The Brewery, Encore combined its technical expertise with the venue’s knowledge of its unique spaces to bring this vision to life. The events were designed to deliver immersive experiences that maximised the potential of every room, ensuring content was presented in a dynamic and impactful way. Over successive events, Engage Business Media sought to consistently raise the bar, blending strategic insight with professionally delivered production and audience engagement across all areas of the venue. 

THE REALITY

Working closely with Engage Business Media, Encore delivered full-service event production and technical management, ensuring a seamless experience from concept to execution. Continuity was central to success: Shakeel acted as Project Manager throughout, supported by a trusted team of Encore technicians. Our talented on-site team works as an extension of The Brewery’s own staff, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the venue’s layout and design to deliver events that run smoothly and successfully across every room. This approach guaranteed familiarity, operational efficiency, and confidence for the Engage team at every event. 

At the Brewery’s Porter Tun, the main plenary space and keynote venue, we installed advanced technical production solutions to create maximum impact. The stage featured a 40ft triple-projection blended screen for seamless widescreen presentations. High-resolution LED screens measuring 9m x 3m and 12m x 4m delivered dynamic keynote visuals and award sequences, while light-up the installations provided scenic branding and ambient lighting. 

A full professional PA system with front fills, stage monitors, and wireless microphones ensured crystal-clear sound, supported by broadcast-grade presentation switchers, comfort monitors, and lectern screens for smooth content delivery. The space was further enhanced with a complete theatrical and intelligent lighting package, featuring moving lights, programmed cues, and uplighting. All of this was coordinated through dedicated show calling, playback, and technical control desks to guarantee flawless execution. 

Concurrent conference sessions, workshops, and presentations took place across Queen CharlotteUpper Sugar RoomKing VaultQueen Vault, and James Watt rooms. Each space was carefully coordinated and branded, featuring large-format projection, HD content switching, professional sound systems, integrated lighting, and on-site technical support. 

Between 2023 and 2024, Encore supported 15 successful conferences for Engage Business Media, including Future of Contact Centres, Future of MarTech & Future of Sales, Employee Engagement Summit, Customer Engagement Transformation, Future of Work, Customer Engagement Summit & Engage Awards, and Sales Engagement & Marketing Engagement Summit & Awards.  

From the first 550-attendee event in 2023 to over 1,200 delegates across multiple conferences in 2024, this represents more than double the audience growth within a single year, highlighting both the growing influence of Engage Business Media and the scalability of Encore’s production solutions. Each event was carefully tailored to meet the team’s creative vision, technical requirements, and budget, ensuring consistency and quality across the expanding conference portfolio. 

THE OUTCOME

The partnership between Engage Business Media and Encore quickly became a trusted collaboration, with Encore acting as an extension of both the client and venue teams. Each event consistently delivered on technical excellence, creative impact, and operational efficiency, enabling Engage to grow its audience significantly and expand its portfolio of conferences between 2023 and 2024.
