Our friendly Hire and Product Sales team have decades of industry experience in live events, theatre and concert touring and are committed to always going the extra mile for our customers. We’ve turned the spotlight on the team to find out a bit more about them and get a glimpse into what life is like in our busy Hire and Product Sales department.

Gavin Hawthorn

Senior Manager – Hire & Sales

Gavin started at Encore in 2005.  He began his journey delivering and collecting equipment all over the UK. He then worked his way up the ladder and joined the Dry Hire team in 2012. Gavin was promoted to Senior Manager – Hire & Sales in January 2022 and now manages the Dry Hire & Product Sales departments. Gavin loves the variety the job brings and the team around him.

Sam Hooper

Senior Hire Account Manager

Since joining Encore at the age of 17 as a warehouse operative, Sam has worked in several roles across our departments, gaining valuable experience, developing his technical knowledge, and nurturing an in-depth understanding of what it takes to deliver world class customer service. Sam is now a key member of our team as Senior Hire Account Manager, looking after many of our corporate and trade key accounts and enjoys working closely with concert touring customers.

Tom Mowat

Hire Account Manager

Tom has been part of the Encore team since 2019. Prior to joining the company, he was a key customer working as a freelance lighting designer, re-lighter and electrician in various sectors across the UK & Europe. This experience makes him ideally suited to support our customers on West End, UK, and International Theatre productions. When asked ‘what do you love about Encore’, he said, “Every day is very different which keeps things interesting.  On a day-to-day basis I deal with enquiries ranging from the hire of single items for a few days right through to trucks worth of equipment for weeks, months and sometimes years. The key for me, no matter the size of event, is delivering kit and customer service to a level that I grew to expect when I was at the other end of the phone”.

Jon Constable

Hire Account Manager

Jon has recently joined Encore in April 2023. He has come from a background within the education and freelance sector, teaching technical theatre for the past 15 years alongside various theatre and dance freelance work. Working within the Dry Hire department, Jon is looking forward to meeting and working with both current customers and forming relationships with new customers yet to work with Encore. “I’m excited by this new challenge and can’t wait to help provide top quality service to all of Encore’s customers!”

Alex Dugdale

Hire Account Handler

Alex has worked at Encore since 2017, both in the warehouse and as a Project Technician. Alex enjoys the variety of work and opportunities to work with well-known customers.. Prior to Encore, Alex worked in technical event management roles in several conference venues and has also worked in both professional and amateur theatre.

James Curtis

Product Sales Manager

James has recently returned to Encore, where he first started his career in the Hire Department. With a background spanning several exciting years in the live events and theatre industry he brings with him a strong technical knowledge which puts him in a great position to assist our diverse range of customers with their product needs. James is looking forward to developing relationships with both current and new clients along with maintaining Encore’s strong connections with manufacturers and suppliers. 

Ellie Parker

Hire & Sales Assistant

Ellie started with Encore in 2022 as Hire and Sales Assistant. In her role, she assists the hire, product sales and purchasing teams and enjoys the variety of tasks she takes on. She enjoys working with colleagues from all departments and loves that no two days are the same. Ellie has always had an interest in the live events industry, which led her to doing a degree in Theatre Arts. She has previously gained experience in stage crew roles in local theatres around the Midlands and has also done various roles working at festivals.

Stacey Hall

Procurement Administrator

Stacey joined Encore in 2019, bringing with her many years of purchasing experience. Stacey receives requests from our team for everything from tape to the latest top of the range equipment, then shops around to get the best deal she can. Recently, Stacey has even turned her hand to dealing with our customers, working alongside James to deliver the great service we are known for!
