Women of Encore
Ornela Biloko Belebenie
Warehouse Apprentice
1. To start, could you introduce yourself and tell us how long you’ve been with Encore? What made you want to join this team?
My name is Ornela, and I joined Encore in October 2025 as part of my studies. What really made me want to join the team was curiosity. I wanted to understand how large events are put together, from concerts to art exhibitions. That whole world really appealed to me.
2. What does a typical day in your role look like? Which aspects of your job motivate you the most on a daily basis?
Honestly, there is no typical day for me. Sometimes I arrive and it is a rush, other times it is quieter. What I really enjoy is working with my colleagues, that is what motivates me the most. Most of them have been in the events industry for years and they teach me a lot about equipment, which has helped me become quite autonomous quite quickly.
3. What made you want to grow in event production?
It was really curiosity that pushed me in that direction. I attended a few concerts in middle school, and that desire to learn more has stayed with me ever since. I am more on the logistics side, so I handle everything before and after events. I like that, because all the preparation work is what makes everything run smoothly on the day.
4. When you started, what struck or surprised you the most about this industry?
Since I already had some experience in logistics, nothing really shocked me. What stood out, however, was how unpredictable requests can be. You always have to find solutions, even when the needs and requests are intricate. That is a real daily challenge.
5. In your opinion, what is the most demanding aspect of your job?
Rigging, without a doubt. Especially when it comes to returning equipment, you have to check that everything is correct and ensure every item is accounted for and in good condition. A mistake at that stage can be very costly for the company, so you really cannot afford to be careless.
6. What are you most proud of in your journey, and what are your next goals?
What I am most proud of is managing to establish myself in a mostly male team through my skills. It is not always easy, but by showing what my ideas can bring in a concrete way, any resistance eventually fades. My manager supports me a lot in helping me assert myself, and today I actively take part in stock management.
7. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get into event production?
My advice would be:
Don’t be afraid to take the leap. You learn so much by doing, and the surprises are often the best part.
