1. Could you introduce yourself, and share how long you’ve been at Encore?
I’m Nuran, and I joined Encore as a Sales Manager within the Downtown Cluster here in Dubai. This month marks my eighth month with the company.
2. Walk us through a typical day in your role
My days are quite fast-paced, with a mix of internal and external client meetings. My role involves a lot of coordination with different teams, especially when events are coming up. There are also many behind-the-scenes processes involved in managing and delivering each project successfully.
3. What inspired you to work in event production?
I’ve always wanted to learn more about the technical part, I’ve always shown interest into what’s happening behind the scenes on how things are being made.
4. What are you most proud of in your career, and what milestones are you looking to achieve next?
When I look back, I feel like I’ve grown so much during my time here. Many aspects of my personality and the way I work have really evolved, and that’s what I’m most proud of. Looking ahead, I’m hoping to take on more large-scale events and continue learning the operational side of the business. Since I’m still under a year into the role, there’s a lot more for me to learn and plenty of opportunities for growth.
5. Working in a fast paced environment can be daunting. How did you build your confidence?
The more experience you gain and the more events you work on, the more challenges you face, which helps build your confidence. As a result, you’re able to communicate more professionally and draw from a wider range of knowledge and experience.
For example, when working with a client who may not have much experience in event planning, you can provide valuable insights based on your own experience. You’re able to advise on what could work well for their event, what potential challenges to avoid, and suggest ideas that they may not have considered.
I always try to be well prepared for every client meeting and site visit. That’s something that comes naturally to me. Whether it’s learning more about the company, researching its history, or looking into any previous events they’ve hosted, I like to gather as much information as possible beforehand.
Alongside maintaining a professional appearance, I believe preparation really shows when you meet with a client. It helps build confidence and creates a stronger impression. I also make sure I have my laptop with me, loaded with images and examples of similar event setups. This helps keep the conversation flowing and allows clients to better visualise ideas and possibilities for their own events.
6. What advice would you give someone considering a career in event production?
My advice would be to be passionate and curious. As I mentioned, this is a never-ending learning journey. You need to stay open-minded and flexible, and be able to adapt to different circumstances.
It’s also important to ask a lot of questions, because that’s how you grow and develop. This will help you build your confidence, so you’re able to make a real impact and contribute meaningfully to every event you take part in.
