Trinity May Ball 2019

Client: University of Cambridge
Venue: Trinity College, Cambridge
Date: May 2019

Dating back to 1866, the First and Third Trinity Boat Club May Ball is a long-standing tradition for those studying at Trinity College, one of the many prestigious colleges that make up the University of Cambridge. We were once again tasked to providing full technical production for the most esteemed evening of the May Ball Week, delivering lighting, sound, staging, video, rigging and power distribution for the all-night event.

We Delivered: Technical Production

Solution

To create an atmosphere of classic elegance and timeless glamour, we provided striking architectural lighting to bring the historical College buildings to life. Festoon lighting used around the event further enhanced this to create a truly magical experience for partygoers.

With the many temporary structures around the grounds hosting an eclectic range of entertainment, we created a variety of lighting designs to suit the various moods of each area. From the warm glow of the ornate Pavilion Tent to the luxurious Jazz Tent decked out with festoon, we ensured every area provided an exceptional guest experience.

On top of this, we also supplied a dynamic lighting design to accompany the hotly-anticipated firework display.

With top-class entertainment taking to the stage in the Big Top, including Becky Hill, we created a spectacular lighting design full of impressive beams and dramatic effects. A large LED screen surrounded the stage whilst also providing a vibrant backdrop to display video content.

Our client said

“Encore once again managed to help us deliver another extraordinary event. Throughout the planning stages, Encore’s experience was second to none in helping us to navigate through the various restrictions of our site.

During pre-production, the team offered technically and creatively advanced solutions to suit our requirements and worked endlessly to provide us with the best production elements possible.

Our venues on the evening of the event were beautiful and many of our guests commented on how the event had exceeded previous years. The care, commitment and attention to detail by the entire crew was clear; they understood our creative brief completely which made working together a pleasure.”
